How to stop euthanasia coming back again Lord Falconer’s assisted-suicide amendment was defeated in the House of Lords last night. That’s a relief, for reasons I’ve been stating these past few months. But the tightness of the vote remains a worry: It was voted down by a slim majority of 194-141. Frankly, it’s astonishing that 141 peers voted with Charlie Falconer. But that’s democracy and I respect the result.
