Support our Cause

“Give me liberty or give me death” – Patrick Henry

With a growing membership spanning all corners of the globe, the organisation works closely with politicians, academics and the public to promote knowledge about end of life choices, taking part in political debates/consultations/legislative processes and invests in academic research to further highlight the need for change.

Friends at the End works with its partners internationally to promote the exchange of ideas and information. We are members of the Right to Die Europe and the World Federation of Right to Die Societies.

As a member you can help Friends at the End to change the law by:

Campaigning:

  • Join your local Friends at the End group – or set one up (we will help you to do this)
  • Write to your MSP/MP at https://www.writetothem.com
  • Write to the editor of your local newspaper
  • Like, share and retweet our Facebook and Twitter posts
  • Organise events in your local area (coffee mornings, public debates)
  • Work with like-minded groups
  • Or, if Friends at the End has helped a family member or friend and you feel able to share your story, let us know. Personal stories are powerful tools in persuading politicians and the public.

Voice your Choice

The current law is unclear and discriminatory. At present the only legal option for hastening death is voluntarily refusing food and fluid, essentially starving and dehydrating to death. This causes distress and suffering for those dying and their family and friends.

There have been two attempts to change the law in Scotland and over 10 attempts at Westminster – all have been defeated. We work to secure further opportunities to improve end of life choices for individuals and to change the law on Assisted Dying.

By signing this pledge you are making the commitment to make your voice heard in the future on this subject.

If we are to make the UK’s laws more compassionate then we will need a critical mass of the public to ensure this, we hope you will join us.

Volunteering

Our members have extensive experience and expertise in business, administration and fund-raising, all the skills we vitally need to achieve our objective of changing the law in the UK.

Over the years, Friends at the End has supported 100’s of people to make their individual end of life choices. We need volunteers who can provide comfort and support to people facing the end of their lives, who can bring confidence and compassion to a life affirming role.

If you can spare any time to help please get in touch.

Donate

We are funded solely by the voluntary donations of our supporters. Any amount has a huge impact on the work we do, and helps us to maintain pressure on policy makers and assist those taking cases to court in their efforts to change the law.

You could consider a regular donation by Standing Order, or consider legacy giving. Every contribution is a step in the right direction towards greater choice.

We look forward to hearing more about how you can help us in the work we are doing to change the law on Assisted Dying in the UK.
